Dear members of the Wallonian government and parliament,

I am writing to you today to express my full support and gratitude for your decision to impose a veto on CETA. I understand and share your concerns that CETA will not benefit farmers and Europe as a whole. It will only empower and enrich multinational corporations at the expense of everyone else.

I hope that you will stand firm until CETA is defeated in its current form and will not give in to the enormous external pressure that I understand you have been subjected to recently. The actions of the European Commission show a remarkable disdain towards the democratic will of the European citizens and the public interest. If CETA and TTIP face stiff opposition today and eventually fail, the real reason will be the non-transparent, undemocratic negotiating process and the unacceptable concessions to multinational corporations by the European Commission. I reject the attempt to shift the responsibility to Wallonia and its Parliament, which consistently upholds the democratic principles and protects the rights of its citizens.

I am happy that you are doing exactly this and would like to encourage you to keep up the fight. The European citizens are with you!
